The Idea for Red Dirt Guitars
grew over time as an
extension of other businesses and interests.
Having been asked to provide an Autographed Guitar
for a charity auction, research was done into what was
commonly available in the marketplace. The poor
quality and value of what was on the market
led to our Basic Principal:
Involve Musicians In The Process
To
Provide A Better Product.
Many autographed guitars are
created by brokers
that send runners to events with stacks of
pick guards that they get signed. A second
person takes a picture of the musician signing
something that you can't see and use that to
"authenticate" the item being sold.
In one of my favorite examples of
how this
works, John Entwistle of The Who is shown
signing something when he is older and gray,
while the guitar being sold also has the
signature of Keith Moon, who died in 1978.
As a result of this process, fans end up with
a cheap guitar with a signature that may or
may not be authentic, and the musician gets nothing. |
