Common Details

A major issue with using "guitar" terms is that there is no clear definition of most of them.
Here is what our bodies look like.

Main Body Length is 15-7/8"

Main Body Width is  12-11/16"

Nominal body thickness is 1-3/4"
This will be reduced somewhat by sanding, and on heavier
bodies we will often undersize by 1/16 to save on weight.

There is a flat spot at the jack plate location

There is a "router hump" inside the neck

The neck pocket is 2-3/16" x 3" x 5/8" deep, tapered towards the headstock.

Note that this Licensed Fender Neck is 1/64" oversize:
(Neck pocket would have to be sanded for this neck)

Neck screw holes are 5/32" and are spaced 1-1/2" wide and 2" long.

String Through holes are 1/8", and are 7-11/16" from the base of the neck pocket.
Top holes are pilot holes for the bridge screws.
Middle top hole is template screw hole.

Ferule holes are 5/16" and are  1/2" deep.

Single coil routs are about 1" deep.

Humbucker, P90 and Filtertron routs are 3/4" deep.
(unless otherwise specified by you)

Wiring bores are 5/16

Jack plate bore is 7/8"

Our common bodies are machine sanded to 120 grit, and will require
additional sanding prior to finishing.
